The CPD Cycle
Plan. Record. Reflect. Declare.
Effective CPD is not just about ticking hours — it's about structured learning that genuinely advances your professional practice. The BILPM CPD cycle guides you through each step.
Plan Your CPD
At the start of each year, identify your development priorities — skills gaps, new specialisms, or leadership areas you want to strengthen. Set learning objectives for the year.
Record as You Go
Log each CPD activity as it happens: date, duration, type, provider, learning outcomes, and how it applies to your practice. Keep any supporting evidence.
Reflect on Learning
After each significant activity, write a short reflection: what did you learn, how has it changed your practice, what do you want to explore further?
Declare by 31 Jan
Submit your annual CPD declaration through the BILPM portal by 31 January, confirming you have met the minimum 30-hour requirement for the previous calendar year.

While CPD can cover any area relevant to your professional practice, the following topic areas are particularly well-aligned with BILPM's frameworks and recognition standards.
